About Us Polhill Garden Centre at Badgers Mount has been established for over 30 years. In 1963 Jim and David Novell, the owner and the Chief Executive of Polhill, bought the land which was at the time a run down nursery. In 1968 they built more glasshouses for use solely as a nursery for growing chrysanthemums and Bedding Plants. However, due to the oil shortage in 1970, it became uneconomic to further develop and expand that business so it was decided to make strategic changes and develop the site into what is now a full and thriving Garden Centre. More glasshouses have been constructed and the property developed. The company has gone from strength to strength and has expanded and matured into what it is today. The Garden Centre's success has been primarily created by its loyal customers that have supported it over the past 30 or more years, and by listening to their needs and advice they have helped to establish a successful business committed to serving the gardening community in South London, Kent, Essex and beyond.
